Products marketplace: test the products you love

The Products marketplace lets you, as a publisher, ask the brands present on Affilae for the products you want to test. Every accepted request creates an affiliate partnership: you receive the product, you publish your content with your tracking link, and you earn a commission on the sales it generates.

Requirements: a publisher account with at least one affiliate profile whose type is allowed (see the list below). You do not need an existing partnership: it is the acceptance of your request that creates the partnership. No paid plan is required on the publisher side.

Check that your profile is eligible

Product testing is not open to every affiliate profile type. Only content-driven profiles can request a product:

  • Blogs / Specialised sites
  • Media
  • Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and X

Other types are not eligible, in particular Deals, Cashback, Price comparison / buying guide, Emailing, App / Service, Native ads, Web and mobile push, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitch, Wishlists, Subnetworks and Other. That is the logic of the feature: the brand is looking for editorial content that showcases the product, not a promotion channel.

If your profile type is not eligible, the request button reads « You can no longer request a test of this product because your content type is not authorized ». The fix is not to force it, it is to create an affiliate profile that genuinely matches the channel where you will publish your review.

What brands look at before accepting

Affilae sets no audience threshold for sending a request. The brand, however, receives your affiliate profile and your message, and decides on that basis. Giving away a product costs them money, so requests are examined seriously. To maximise your chances, we recommend having at least:

  • 5,000 followers and an engagement rate above 1.5% on the relevant network.
  • Authentic and original content, produced by you.
  • An active account that publishes regularly.
  • On YouTube, some brands ask for a minimum of 1,000 subscribers.

These figures are not blocking rules inside the app: they are the expectations brands most often express. A smaller but highly engaged audience on a well-defined topic remains an excellent argument.

Tip: update your affiliate profile before you start requesting products (description, topics, links to your networks, audience figures). It is the first thing the brand checks, and an empty profile loses requests that would otherwise have been accepted.

Find a product and send your request

Your test requests live in the Product testing menu (Tools section of the sidebar). The showcase of available products opens from the Marketplace menu, or from the Product Marketplace button on that page.

  1. Open the Products marketplace, then narrow the list with the Categories, Countries and Programs filters, or with free-text search.
  2. Switch between the New and Featured sorts to see recent arrivals or the highlighted selection. The Hide products I’ve already tested box is ticked by default: untick it if you want to see the whole showcase again.
  3. Click a product to open its detail view: Product description, Price, Avg.CPS, Commission rate, Delivery time and targeted countries. The delivery time and the commission rate only appear there, not on the card.
  4. Click I want to test this product.
  5. If you manage several affiliate profiles, a selector asks which one to use. Unusable profiles are greyed out, and the tooltip explains why: « Some profiles are not allowed (type, blocked partnership, existing request) ». With a single profile this step does not appear.
  6. Write your message in the large text area, which has no label but shows the four hint lines described below. A counter shows your length as « 0/1024 characters ». Then click Send: a confirmation animation plays, the window closes and you are back on the list.

Every product appears as a card showing its price and its average commission. The top bar holds the filters, the search box, the two sorts and the Hide products I’ve already tested checkbox.

The message field shows a four-line writing prompt: « Introduce yourself », « Why do you want to review this product ? », « The kind of content that will be published ? », « And, above all, check that your Affilae profile is up to date ! ». Answer all four points properly, because that is what separates an accepted request from an ignored one.

Once sent, a request cannot be cancelled or deleted. It stays in your list until the brand decides. So read yourself again before sending, and do not request a product just to see what happens.

Track your request, status by status

The Product testing page lists all your requests, one row per requested product. Its columns are ID, Product, Preview, Brand, Partner, Clicks, Sales, Conversion rate, Commissions, Status and Actions. The page title counts your requests, for example « 3 product requests ». If your filters return nothing, the message shown is « No product requests for these criteria ».

STATUS WHAT IT MEANS WHAT YOU DO
Pending The brand has received your request and has not decided yet. You wait. No response time is guaranteed in the app.
Accepted The brand said yes and the affiliate partnership is active. Agree on delivery with the brand, build your tracking link, prepare your content.
Refused The brand declined. They must enter a reason, which you receive in Messaging. Read their reasons, adjust your profile or your message, and try another product.
Review submitted You have sent the brand the address of your published content. Nothing more. You can still fix the address with Edit review.

These four statuses are the only ones you will see. A Refused request can still be accepted later by the brand, and an Accepted request can still be refused by them as long as you have not declared your review. From Review submitted onwards, the status no longer changes.

On every row, the actions column gives you Add review (then Edit review), See the product, Contact the brand, Contact information, the tracking link copy button and See earning. The copy button, See earning and Contact information stay disabled until the partnership is active.

Receive the product, publish, declare your review

Affilae does not handle shipping. As soon as your request is accepted, open Messaging to agree with the brand on the delivery address, the carrier and the publication schedule. It is also the right moment to clear up any grey areas: is the product a gift or a loan, is a publication date expected.

  1. On your request row, click the copy icon to get your tracking link. Use that one rather than a link built elsewhere: it carries the id of the product you tested, which is what ties the clicks and the sales to that specific product in your table.
  2. Publish your content with that link. Without it no sale can be attributed to you and no commission will be calculated.
  3. Click Add review, fill in the Url to review and, if you wish, a Comment for the brand (« You can leave a note for the advertiser »).
Tip: the Link builder is still useful for links to other pages of the brand. But for the product you have just tested, always prefer the link copied from your request row: it is the only one that feeds the Clicks, Sales and Commissions columns of that row.

The action stays disabled until the brand has accepted your request: the tooltip then reads « The product request has not been accepted yet. » Declaring your review is not paperwork, it is the proof that you kept your side of the deal. It is what the brand checks before sending you a second product.

Good to know: disclosure and SEO

Content obtained in exchange for a free product must be flagged as such to your audience, with a « gifted product » mention or its equivalent in your country. That transparency does not weaken your review, it makes it credible.

On the SEO side, Google asks you to signal the commercial nature of affiliate links. Add the rel="sponsored" attribute to your tracking link when you embed it in a web page. See Google’s documentation on link attributes.

Best practices for getting a yes

  • Personalise every message. Copy-pasted text is spotted immediately. Name the product and say why it fits your editorial line.
  • State the format and the timing. « A test article with 6 photos, published within three weeks, relayed in a story » is far more reassuring than « I will do a post ».
  • Only request products you would genuinely use. A half-hearted review shows, and it does not generate sales.
  • Target instead of requesting everything. Three careful requests beat fifteen generic ones, which damage your reputation with brands.
  • Reply in Messaging. A brand that gets no answer about the delivery address eventually cancels the shipment.

Use cases

  • A beauty creator is preparing her winter routine. She filters the products marketplace on the cosmetics category, requests two creams, gets one, tests it for three weeks, then publishes a comparison video with her tracking link.
  • An outdoor blog is building a gear guide. It requests an insulated bottle, tests it on a hike, adds it to a guide that already ranks well, and earns commissions months after publication.
  • A cooking newsletter wants a recurring theme. It requests one product a month in the same category, declares every review, and becomes the regular contact of two brands that later offer it their new releases first.

As a rule, no. Products offered on the products marketplace are given to you in exchange for publishing your review. When a product is expensive, the brand may state that it is a loan. Affilae does not decide this on their behalf, so ask them in Messaging before the shipment. It avoids any misunderstanding.

No. Your freedom of expression is what gives your audience its value, and brands are looking precisely for authentic reviews. They can, however, give you a frame in the Comment field of the product entry or in Messaging: colours to highlight, preferred period, expected format. That is guidance, not a script.

Contact the brand from Messaging and explain why you cannot build your content on that basis. They may offer another item, or end the collaboration. Publishing a lukewarm review would be worse for everyone, and being transparent will earn you credibility, including with that brand.

The message shown in place of the button gives you the reason. « You need to have an affiliate profile to test products »: create a profile first, from Manage profile. « Your rights do not allow you to request a product test »: the user who manages the account has to grant you the rights. « You can no longer request a test of this product because your content type is not authorized »: your profile type is not eligible for this product. « Unfortunately, you cannot request this product test, because the brand has blocked your profile. »: the brand has blocked that profile. « You already ask to test this product with all your affiliate profiles »: every request you could send on this product has already been sent.

No response time is guaranteed in the app, and the request stays Pending until the brand decides. A short, polite follow-up in Messaging is acceptable after one or two weeks. With no answer, do not block your editorial plan on that product: send other requests in parallel.

One request per product and per affiliate profile. If you manage several profiles, you can apply with another one, provided its type is allowed and the brand has not blocked it. Once all your profiles have applied, the button reads « You already ask to test this product with all your affiliate profiles ».

Nothing technically forces you to, but it is strongly recommended. Until you click Add review, the brand cannot see your content and your request stays Accepted. Declaring it moves the status to Review submitted and gives the brand proof that the deal was honoured, which weighs heavily when they choose who receives their next product.

No, the app offers no way to cancel or delete a test request. It stays visible in your list with the Pending status until the brand decides. If you picked the wrong product or the wrong profile, the simplest move is to write to the brand in Messaging and explain, so they can refuse the request knowingly.

No. Product test requests are handled only from the web interface, in the Product testing menu. The mobile app covers the dashboard, tracked links and payments, but not this feature.
