Interview with Marie-Charlotte Collet, Content Creator

What was your strategy for growing your community?
I’ve been on social media for several years and have seen it evolve over time (her Instagram account). Honestly, the growth of my community didn’t follow a precise strategy. I mostly rode the wave of the platforms’ rise.
What really worked for me was sharing my life sincerely and transparently—showing both the good and the bad moments. I also stay very close to my followers, taking the time to respond to each one. My community is still small enough that I can remain accessible and available.
How do you stand out to attract more followers and brands?
I always aim to produce quality content that resonates with my audience. For brands, my goal is to be as professional as possible in collaborations. I create content that reflects who I am while respecting the agreements made with brands.
Even though this is a relatively new profession, brands and agencies are looking for people with a strong personal image and the professionalism to deliver on their commitments.
What are the benefits of affiliate marketing for content creators?
One of the main advantages of affiliate marketing is revenue diversification. It allows me not to rely solely on image-based marketing but also to integrate a more direct and visible source of income.
The results are measurable, which is very useful when negotiating with brands. I can see the impact I have on my followers’ purchasing decisions. For brands with smaller budgets, affiliate marketing allows them to promote products in exchange for commissions or gifts, while creators can monetize these collaborations.
How do you choose the brands you work with in affiliate marketing?
Whether for affiliate programs or more traditional collaborations, my first criterion is always desire: I like working with brands whose products I love and whose values I share.
For affiliates specifically, recurring collaborations are crucial. To make an affiliate program work, activations need to be repeated so my audience has multiple chances to discover the products. Since links in stories expire quickly, it’s important to relaunch them regularly to drive purchases.
What advice would you give content creators about working with affiliate platforms?
My main advice is to diversify revenue streams. Don’t rely only on image-based collaborations. Affiliate marketing for content creators is a great way to monetize partnerships that might have originally been just gifting opportunities.
From your experience, what are the benefits of working with a platform like Affilae?
The biggest advantage of Affilae is its simplicity. Whether activating a collaboration or tracking performance, everything is very accessible. You can monitor conversions, commissions, clicks, and more—all smoothly.
I also appreciate the interactions with the Affilae team—they’re always responsive and approachable. Since Affilae is based in Bordeaux, it’s a real pleasure to meet them in person for lunch or at brand events!
